  • 8 tbsp, 1 stick, unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • 12 oz package chocolate chips

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 and prepare a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Set to the side.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and cocoa powder. Use a whisk or fork to combine. Set to the side.
  3. Using a hand mixer and a medium-sized bowl or in the bowl of a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, cream the butter with the sugars, about 2-3 minutes, until light and fluffy. Add the egg, vanilla, and orange juice mixing thoroughly and scraping down the bowl as needed. Mix in the orange zest.
  4. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, scraping down the bowl as needed. Add in the chocolate chips.
  5. Scoop the cookie dough onto the cookie sheet in one tablespoon-sized balls. Bake the cookies in the oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges look slightly firm.
  6. Let the cookies cool on the cookie sheet for about 10 minutes. Then, transfer to a cooling rack and enjoy!
