Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup, 2 sticks, unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • 4 ounces chocolate chips, chopped

Equipment

  • hand or stand mixer
  • rubber spatula
  • cookie sheet
  • cookie scoop
  • mixing bowls
  • Measuring spoons

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 and prepare a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Set to the side.
  2. Combine the flour, salt, and baking soda in a small bowl and set to the side.
  3. Using a hand mixer or a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, cream the butter with the granulated and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes. Scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed. Then, add in the egg, followed by the vanilla and water.
  4. Gradually add in the flour mixture to the butter mixture, mixing to combine. Then, add in the chopped chocolate.
  5. Scoop the cookie dough using a small cookie scoop. Place the dough on the prepared cookie sheet.
  6. Bake the cookies for 15-17 minutes, until the edges are firm. The cookies will spread a lot in the oven.
  7. Let the cookies cool on the cookie sheet for a few minutes before moving to a cooling rack.
