    Oreo Cookies and Cream Cookies

It's hard to improve on an Oreo — they are basically the perfect cookie. However, these Cookies and Cream Cookies prove that Oreo can get an upgrade. The cookies and cream cookie combines crushed Oreo pieces with white and semi-sweet chocolate chips to create the mashup of cookies you never knew you needed.

These cookies live up to their name in the cream department. Not only does the Oreo cream provide a creamy texture to the cookies, but the addition of cream cheese in the batter helps out, too. The cream cheese gives the batter a light and airy texture, making it softer in spots. What results is a cookie that is slightly chewy and crisp on the edges.

The mix-ins in this cookie batter can seem a bit overwhelming, but after one bite, you'll see that they all work seamlessly together. The batter includes crushed Oreos, white chocolate and semi-sweet chocolate chips. It's an overflow of toppings in the best way possible.

    • Freezer-Friendly - These cookies freeze super well and make it so you can always have a sweet treat around.
    • Simple - While the batter has a bunch of ingredients, the cookies are fairly simple to make.

Ingredients Needed For Cookies and Cream Cookies

Ingredients needed for Cookies and Cream Cookies.

See below for all the details on what you'll need to make the full recipe.

    • Oreos - Crush the Oreos before adding them to the batter.
    • Cream cheese - Allow the cream cheese to soften so it mixes in smoothly.
    • Cornstarch - Helps with the soft texture of the cookies.
    • Chocolate chips - Use both white and semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Directions For How To Make Cookies and Cream Cookies

    1. Prepare.

Prepare a cookie sheet with parchment paper and set to the side.

    2. Mix dry ingredients.

Mix the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl and set it to the side.

    3. Cream butter and sugar.

Cream the butter and cream cheese with the sugars until light and fluffy. Then, add in the egg and vanilla and mix well.

    4. Combine.

Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, scraping down the sides of the bowl as needed. Then, add in the crushed Oreos and chocolate chips.

    5. Form the cookie dough.

Use a cookie dough scoop to form the batter into balls. Place the balls on the prepared sheet of parchment or on a dish to chill.

    6. Chill the dough.

Chill the cookie dough for 1 hour in the refrigerator.

    7. Preheat the oven.

When the hour is just about up, preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

    8. Bake the cookies.

Bake the cookie dough on the prepared cookie sheet for 10-12 minutes until the edges of the cookies are firm.

    9. Cool.

Let the cookies slightly cool on the cookie sheet before removing them and placing them on a cooling rack.

    Serving Suggestions

These cookies are great to serve pretty much whenever you are craving a sweet treat. The cookies and cream cookies have classic flavors, so you really can't go wrong with them.

    Make Ahead and Storage

    • Make Ahead: The cookies can be made in advance and kept in an airtight container for 2-3 days before serving.
    • To Store: Extra cookies can be stored in an airtight container for 5-7 days.
    • To Freeze: The cookies can be frozen, both cooked and before baking as dough. To freeze as cookie dough, skip the chilling process and freeze the formed dough. You can bake the cookie dough right from the freezer, just add on a few minutes in the oven. To freeze the baked cookies, set them in an air tight container or plastic bag and put in the freezer for 2-3 months.

    Tips and Variations

    • Oreo Chunks - If you prefer bigger Oreo pieces in your cookies, don't crush them so fine.
    • Chill Time - Don't skip the 1 hour chill time, as this will give the dough time to form so the cookies will not spread out in the oven.
    • Chocolate Chips - If you don't like white chocolate or want to add dark chocolate chips, go for it. Just make sure the proportions are the same in the recipe.
