Valentine's Day is about showing off the love, so why not share it with these Valentine's Day M&M cookies? They are soft, chewy, and loaded with pink, white, and red M&M, which are perfect for the Valentine's Day holiday.

    Valentine's Day M&M Cookie Recipe

These cookies are simple to make and great if you need a last-minute treat to celebrate Valentine's Day. The hardest part about making the cookies is waiting an hour for them to chill. It's worth it because the chilling makes the texture of the cookies super chewy texture. The chewy texture, plus the crisp edge and gooey chocolate, make for a truly mouthwatering bite.

These Valentine's Day M&M cookies use seasonal M&Ms to get in the Valentine's Day holiday spirit. I love to keep track of their seasonal M&Ms and use them for all the different holidays. This recipe can easily be adapted for any holiday with a simple switch of the M&M color.

These Valentine's Day M&M cookies are great to give out to all of your loved ones this holiday. Looking for more Valentine's Day treats? Check out my Valentine's Day blondies, Valentine's Day cake pops, and chocolate lava cake cookies.

Why I Love These Valentine's Day M&M Cookies

    • Super Festive - The seasonal M&Ms make it a true Valentine's Day treat.
    • Chocolate Overload - Along with the M&Ms, I add chocolate chips for a true chocolate overload.
    • Simple To Follow - The recipe is very simple and easy to make when you need a last-minute treat.

Ingredients Needed For Valentine's Day M&M Cookies

See below for all the details on what you'll need to make the full recipe.

    • Valentine's Day M&Ms - Any M&Ms will work, but look for the Valentine's Day colors for a seasonal treat.
    • Chocolate chips - Both semi-sweet and dark chocolate will work.
    • Cocoa powder - Gives the cookies their signature chocolate flavor.
    • Eggs - an extra egg yolk adds a richness to the dough.
    • Brown sugar - keeps the cookies soft and chewy.

How To Make Valentine's Day M&M Cookies

    1. Prepare. Prepare a cookie sheet with parchment. Set to the side.
    2. Mix in the dry ingredients. In a bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
    3. Cream the wet ingreidents. Cream the butter and sugar. Then, add the eggs and vanilla.
    4. Combine. Add the dry mixture to the butter mixture, followed by the milk. Stir in the chocolate chips and the M&Ms.
    5. Chill the dough. Set the cookie dough in the refrigerator and let the cookies chill for 1 hour.
    6. Form the cookies. Preheat the oven to 350 and form the cookies using a medium-sized cookie sheet.
    7. Bake the cookies. Bake the cookies for 9-12 minutes, until the edges of the cookies are firm.

    Make Ahead and Storage

These Valentine's Day M&M cookies can easily be made ahead of time. Make the cookies following the recipe and store them in an airtight container for 2-5 days. If you have any extra cookies, you can store them in an airtight container and enjoy the extras for 2-5 days.

These Valentine's Day cookies are great frozen, both as cookie dough and baked. If storing the cookies before they are baked, there is no need to chill the dough. Form the cookie dough balls and freeze them in a plastic bag or airtight container. When ready to bake, simply place them in the oven. They may take a few more minutes in the oven to bake since the cookies were frozen. Any extra cookies can also be frozen in an airtight container and stored for 2-3 months.

    Tips and Variations

    • Don't Skip The Chilling - It may seem like an unnecessary step but don't skip the chilling process. It helps the texture of the cookies form and keeps them from being lumpy in the oven.
    • Holiday Favorite - Use any type of seasonal M&M to make these cookies. Go with pastels for Easter or greens or St. Patrick's Day.
    • Extra Chocolate - Before placing the cookies in the oven, place some extra chocolate chips and M&Ms on the outside of the cookie dough. This will add more chocolate and let the M&Ms sit on the outside of the cookie.

    FAQs

Can you use regular M&Ms for baking?

Yes! Any regular M&Ms are great for making these cookies. Mini M&M will work as well.

Why did my M&M cookies come out flat?

If you find that your Valentine's Day M&M cookies are coming out flat, chances are you overmixed the butter. Use room temperature butter so it incorporates smoothly into the cookie dough.

Can you freeze cookies with M&Ms in them?

Yes! M&M freezes just like any chocolate would. These cookies can be frozen and kept in the freezer for 2-3 months.
