    Chai Spice Blondies

Published: Oct 1, 2024 · Modified: Oct 21, 2024 by Margo · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

These soft and chewy chai spice blondies are swirling with warm chai spice. Ginger, cardamon, cinnamon, nutmeg, and more make up the traditional chai spice to make this mouthwatering treat.

    Warming Chai Spice Blondies

When cool weather hits, a warming blend of chai always hits the spot, especially when the spice mixture comes in blondie form. The buttery and soft square is the perfect vehicle for the warming spice full of ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, nutmeg, allspice, and black pepper.

While you can use a premade chai spice, I like to create my own. I find that the individual spices bring more flavor to the blondies. Traditional chai spice can include several different spices but will most likely include a mix of cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Making the blend from scratch will provide the biggest burst of flavor.

Fall is a great time to make these chai spice blondies. There is something about the cooler weather and the warming spices that go hand-in-hand. The recipe is fairly simple to make and can all be done in one bowl, making it a go-to fall dessert.

Why You'll Love These Chai Spice Blondies

    • Warming Spices - The blend of warming spices creates a flavor that hits the spot with each bite.
    • Fall Favorite - The spices and flavors of the blondie are signatures of the fall season.
    • Quick - The chai spice blondies come together quickly, allowing you to have a fall treat in no time.

Ingredients Needed For Chai Spice Blondies

See below for all the details on what you'll need to make the full recipe.

    • Warming spices - For the chai spice, I use a blend of cinnamon, ginger, cardamon, cloves, nutmeg, allspice, and black pepper.
    • Brown sugar - Adds to the sweetness and keeps the blondies soft.
    • Cornstarch - Adds a chewiness to the blondies.
    • Oil - Keeps the blondies moist.
    • Butter - Melt the butter and let it cool to room temperature.

Directions For How To Make Chai Spice Blondies

    1. Prepare.

Preheat the oven to 350 and prepare an 8x8-inch pan with grease or parchment. Set to the side.

    2. Mix wet ingredients.

In a large bowl, mix the melted butter, oil, brown sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth. The mixture should look shiny.

    3. Add dry ingredients.

Add the flour, cornstarch, salt, cinnamon, ginger, cardamon, cloves, nutmeg, black pepper, and allspice. Mix with a whisk until the mixture is smooth.

    4. Bake the blodnies.

Place the batter in the prepared pan using a rubber spatula. Bake the blondies for 35 minutes and let them cool in the pan.

    Serving Suggestions

The blondies are filled with warming spices, so they go well with a hot beverage like a cup of tea (Double up on the chai with a cup of chai tea!). They are excellent for dessert or a sweet afternoon snack.

    Make Ahead and Storage

You can make the chai spice blondies ahead of time and store them in the pan with foil covering or an airtight container until ready to serve. The blondies can be made 1-2 days ahead of time.

Extra blondies can be stored in an airtight container for 4-7 days. The blondies can also be stored in a freezer bag or airtight container and kept in the freezer for 2-3 months.

    Tips and Variations

    • Mix-ins - The chai spice blend for the blondies holds a strong flavor, but if you'd like, you can mix in white chocolate chips or a cinnamon swirl to add more sweetness to the bars.
    • Cook Time - Blondies cook fast in the oven for a baked good. Keep an eye on the timer and make sure they don't overcook.
    • Chai Spice - If you don't have all the spices needed for chai spice in your pantry, a premade store version will be a great swap.
